Crown wins deception

On the day the four defendants in Operation 8 are to be sentenced for using guns in the Urewera Forest in 2007, it is good to know that the Crown is more adept at putting lipstick on a pig as to how much this fiasco cost the taxpayers.  In response to an Official Information Act request by kiwisfirst, the Ministry of Justice claims to have spent only $323,412.35 on the entire prosecution, which initially totalled 18 defendants.
Sounds like someone is telling a porkie.
