White casts shadow in Court of Appeal promotion

9 January 2012
Relative newbe Douglas White has been appointed to the Court of Appeal just two years after his appointment to the High Court bench from private practice.

True to the nature of such appointments in New Zealand, Justice White is the son of the late High Court judge Sir John White, and the nephew of the late chief justice Sir Richard Wild.  Justice White’s grandfather was also a leading lawyer. His cousin, John Wild, is a High Court judge who was also appointed to the Court of Appeal last year.

So much for diversity on the Court of Appeal.
