He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2008 and consistently appears in the top band of litigators in Chambers Global and Asia Pacific Legal 500.Murray has conducted many trials and has appeared in courts at all levels, including the Privy Council and Supreme Court. He is frequently instructed by professional firms and companies facing particularly challenging or sensitive claims.

Murray was a partner of Kensington Swan from 1985 to 1996 and of Chapman Tripp from 1996 to 2004. He established Gilbert Walker with Campbell Walker in 2004.
